THE 2019 APPLICATION IS NOW OPEN.

The Birmingham Black Pride (BBP) Scholarship was created to provide financial support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth who are pursuing a college degree. Students must be currently enrolled in a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to receive this scholarship. Awards are based on academic achievement, personal essay, and volunteer work.

Each year, students at an HBCU located in the State of Alabama will be selected to receive BBP scholarships. This year, three $500 scholarships will be awarded to students attending Miles College.  Recipients must be present and must serve as volunteers during Birmingham Black Pride Weekend. This event will take place from August 15th – 18th 2019.

Submissions must be received no later than June 1st, 2019.

Finalist will be notified by July 1st, 2019.

Awards will not be distributed until Birmingham Black Pride receives all required documentation, including verification of attendance by the Miles College admissions office and verification of at least a 2.5 GPA. BBP will distribute awards directly to the educational institution only, and only upon verification of attendance.
